I'm a mum.
I'm also a nurse.
Somewhere between becoming both, I realised something i'd never expected.
The little things disappear faster than we ever expect.
Not just the milestones.
The muddy gumboots.
The tiny things that somehow find their way into every corner of your home.
The way your toddler still reaches for your hand without thinking.
The bluey toy they insist on sleeping with every night.
Those are the things I want you to remember.
Because one day...
they won't just be ordinary moments anymore.
They'll become the stories your family tells.
That's why I do what I do.
WHY I STARTED
Candidly JB Photography began while I was on maternity leave with my first baby.
I bought my first 'real' camera because I didn't want motherhood to blur into exhaustion.
I wanted to remember it.
Not just what my babies looked like, but who they were.
The way they laughed.
The chaos.
The cuddles.
The tiny things that never felt important enough at the time...
until they suddenly were.
Turns out, I wasn't the only one trying to hold onto those little moments.
What a session feels like
If your toddler eats a freddo halfway through? We're rolling with it.
If your kids want to wear gumboots? Perfect.
If they spend twenty minutes showing me every toy in the house? We'll make that part of the story.
There's also a pretty good chance you'll find me lying on the grass pretending to be a dinosaur, making silly noises or trying to balance something on my head if that's what it takes to get a giggle. And honestly? I wouldn't have it any other way.
My goal isn't to be the photographer your kids smiled at.
It's to be the photographer they ask about on the drive home.
When families leave a session with me, I hope they don't just love their photos.
I hope they leave feeling...
Calm.
Seen.
Safe.
Like we've known each other for years.
And if your little one asks,
"When do we get to see Jess again?"
I'll know we've done it right.
